To Sin or not to Sin

I have explained that sin constitutes mal-adaptive behavior. There is not one sin mentioned in The Bible which would fail to make society progress in reverse over time.

Sin is rewarding because it has rewards. Take fornication, for an example. Fornication provides an immediate pleasure. The ancients had discovered the value of planned births. Fornication created unplanned pregnancies. It also spread infections, none of which could be cured back then. Such things work against mankind’s forward progress.

It is the nature of sin to provide benefits and it does. The benefits are immediate rewards but they are all up front. Costs and risks outweigh the benefits over time.

Costs of sin impact society as a whole. There are no victimless sins.

Matthew 13:9 Whoever has ears, let them hear

Matthew 13:9

“Whoever has ears, let them hear.” Matthew 13:9

Scriptures – especially the words of Jesus, have universal meanings beyond applying to the immediate circumstances he was addressing.

Some people are born with a spiritual awareness. Some have a lot, some a little ….and some have none at all. Many feel the presence of a higher power that influences their lives. These are those Jesus understood who were capable of immediately receiving his message.

Atheists seem to be among those born spiritually impaired. Think of this as being handicapped spiritually.

Wisdom in Samuel 1

Wisdom in Samuel PDF
Find a passage in The Bible that describes a certain ongoing activity of the time. Notice how the situation is manifested. Then observe a parallel situation in the modern era. The outcomes will be completely similar.

The scripture below describes an eternal dilemma mankind faces with respect to their governance. Members of society opt out of accepting the opportunity to govern themselves and thus prostrate themselves before an authoritarian leader. The scripture explains the costs and other hardships of such behavior. Still, mankind insists that government make decisions for them, rule them and guide them throughout life.

Samuel 1, describes an ongoing eternal behavior that has always plagued mankind and continues to….

Samuel 1:10-22

10 And Samuel told all the words of The Lord unto the people that asked of him a king.

11 And he said, This will be the manner of the king that shall reign over you: He will take your sons, and appoint them for himself, for his chariots, and to be his horsemen; and some shall run before his chariots.

12 And he will appoint him captains over thousands, and captains over fifties; and will set them to ear his ground, and to reap his harvest, and to make his instruments of war, and instruments of his chariots.

13 And he will take your daughters to be confectionaries, and to be cooks, and to be bakers.

14 And he will take your fields, and your vineyards, and your oliveyards, even the best of them, and give them to his servants.

15 And he will take the tenth of your seed, and of your vineyards, and give to his officers, and to his servants.

16 And he will take your menservants, and your maidservants, and your goodliest young men, and your asses, and put them to his work.

17 He will take the tenth of your sheep: and ye shall be his servants.

18 And ye shall cry out in that day because of your king which ye shall have chosen you; and The Lord will not hear you in that day.

19 Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, Nay; but we will have a king over us;

20 That we also may be like all the nations; and that our king may judge us, and go out before us, and fight our battles.

21 And Samuel heard all the words of the people, and he rehearsed them in the ears of the Lord.

22 And the Lord said to Samuel, Hearken unto their voice, and make them a king. And Samuel said unto the men of Israel, Go ye every man unto his city.

Whoever Has Ears

Whoever Has Ears  PDF

9 “Whoever has ears, let them hear.” Matthew 13:9

This could be deemed as a way of speaking to those listening who would grasp what he had to say automatically, like the adept in the crowd. Certainly it does mean that – but there is more to it.

This scripture indicates that some of the crowd could feel the presence of God in their lives before any words came out of the mouth of Jesus.

There are some who may not have the capacity to receive his message upon first hearing it. Spiritual adeptness was born into some. Only certain among us feel the presence of God within their being. Matthew 11 completes the story.

11He replied, “Because the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them. 12Whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them. 13This is why I speak to them in parables:Matthew 13:3-9.

It is easy to fall into the trap of thinking the New Testament is a collection of feel – good platitudes. Some are going to have a hard time finding salvation

Do You Think War Will Ever Stop For Humanity?

Do You Think War Will Ever Stop For Humanity PDF

Do you think war will ever stop for humanity?
What Jesus had to say on this topic has proven to be true for at least 2100 years. Personally, I do not disagree.

Matthew 24:6-13

6 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.

Jesus understood that the secular world was not going to change. Notice that Jesus did not organize peace movements…. nor did he lobby leadership on behalf of the masses. Jesus changed people so that they could have peace in a wicked world. He offered salvation to all who understand his teachings and pursued the path of righteousness.

The Letter Killeth

The Letter Killeth PDF

“Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.” 2 Corinthians 3:6

Think about the word chair, When the word chair is spoken, it brings up a different image in the mind of the person hearing it than it does in the mind of the one speaking. Chairs may be straight back, luxury, folding office etc. Language never delivers a totally accurate image from one person to another. The spirit has the capacity to do so between all who are awakened.

The written word becomes more inaccurate than the spoken work.

Notice that scriptures contain meanings that apply to situations in ordinary life as well as in a religious context. Who has not experienced a situation of having a thought that cannot be expressed in words? The idea is real. Being unable to express a thought to others with words or letters does not make it unreal or meaningless.

Here is an excellent example showing how
easy it is to forecast the future accurately
by finding ancient writings which describes
situations parallel to what we experience in
modern times.
(Bold letters are my comments.)
The Tower of Babel

common speech. 2 As people moved eastward,[a] they found a plain in Shinar[b] and settled there.

Natural Law New Testament Hard Sayings

Natural Law New Testament Hard Sayings
Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life. John 25:25

This is one quote by Jesus which is deemed to be a hard saying. Who has ever heard it alluded to in a sermon at a Christian church?

In my fantasy free approach to understanding scriptures, I explain it as perhaps the most profound and meaningful verse in the New Testament. There is no controversy in it at all. The fact is, that it is so meaningful that folks can’t accept the meaning and explain it away in some other convenient manner.

Fantasy Free Ministries

First and foremost, There are no authorities on God. There are no authorities on the existence of God, yes or no? There are no authorities on their not being a God. . .

The role of Fantasy Free Ministries is to interpret and explain scriptures in ways that add meaning to existing understandings of these ancient writings. Christians understand the term “hard sayings of Jesus..” Question, are these sayings really hard to understand? Or, are the meanings  something other than what folks might want them to be? That is where Fantasy Free Ministries enters the picture.

Here is an example,

Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life. John 12:25,

Even his disciples did not appreciate this one. It means exactly what was said.

Without understanding the true nature of the secular world, salvation is illusive. When one reaches the point where annihilation is a better outcome to living in the secular world again, salvation is at hand. Reason like this, and strangely peace sets in. Peace is like fertile  soil where a person’s spiritual identity germinates. Without personal peace, there is no true understanding. Without understanding, is there any salvation?

Scriptures are a great source of natural law. Find a situation in the modern world that has a parallel in the sculptures and bingo. The one in the secular world will have a similar outcome. This never changes. Human behavior is constant over time.

I am James Quillian. Where do I get the authority to make profound interpretations of what was written eons ago?   You have the same authority I have. The key is to accept the answer that is given. The New Testament was compiled years ago. The folks who put it together were not experts on God. There are no experts on God. So, who is it who holds himself out to be such an authority?

Find peace. Read the scriptures and it is obvious what they mean.
